In the town centre, stood the castle, build with round corner-towers in the 14th. Century and surrounded by a moat. All that remains of the castle today, are a few remnants of the towers, the southern and the northern walls. In 1625 extensive renovations and additions transformed the castle into an impressive building with square portals, Renaissance windows and baroque door columns. On the Westside remains a portal that once was the entry into the castle courtyard, surrounded by the remnants of the so-called “ new castle”. In the 19th Century some of the buildings were demolished or renovated. .
